In my first post “Welcome to The Age Optimizer”, I briefly wrote about the reasons why I decided to start sharing my fitness journey.
In the following posts, I wrote about the events that led me to falling in love with nutrition and fitness.
However, I realized that I never mentioned why the word “Optimizer” resonated with me to the point of choosing it for the name of this project.
I consider optimization one of my best qualities. It’s almost an innate talent, if there was such a thing.
Optimization, or getting better every day, is something that has been driving my life for the past 10 years or so.
I applied optimization in work, when I decided to move from a job with a very low salary (my first one in Ireland) to Microsoft.
I also applied it in my following role, when I got promoted to Manager and then Director, from Senior Account Manager.
I then applied it when I decided to leave the company and start my own business.
For the purpose of The Age Optimizer, I have applied optimization daily in pretty much any aspect of my life:
- Nutrition, when I moved from omnivore to vegetarian and I have been optimizing my meals, hydration and supplementation ever since
- Fitness, when I decided to join the gym and I have been optimizing my workout ever since
I also apply the optimization principles to the relationship with my wife, my parents, my step daughter (and my cat).
I apply optimization in learning a new skill.
In brief, optimizing or getting better every day is something that resonates so deeply with me that I decided to honor this principle by adding the word to the name of this project.
